How To Beat The Winter Blues

How To Beat The Winter Blues

As the holidays have come and gone and the weather continues to get colder, feeling a little blue is inevitable. Although the winter blues may be something many people feel during this time of year, we have found some ways to help get out of the winter blues rut.

Vitamin D
Also known as the sunshine vitamin, vitamin D is known to assist with boosting energy levels and enhancing your mood. As it is difficult to get outside during this time of year, try taking a supplement to help get your daily dose of the happy vitamin!

Move It
As we know, exercise provides a healthy dose of endorphins which are known to reduce pain and boost pleasure, resulting in a feeling of well-being. Try following along with some YouTube video workouts for ways to move from the comfort of your own home.

Salt Lamps
Besides being a lovely addition to your decor, salt lamps are a great way to help beat the winter blues. According to CNN, “pink salt lamps can even help boost your overall mood and help you sleep more soundly”. Try plugging in a salt lamp to help both your mood and space!

Meditation is a great way to help reduce feelings of anxiety and depression. Taking as little as five minutes a day can help increase feelings of peace and clarity. If you are new to practicing meditation, try using an app or a guided video to help you learn the basics of meditation.

Get Outside
Even though it may be cold, getting outside can help boost your mood. Besides getting a dose of vitamin D as we mentioned above, being in nature can help you feel better emotionally. It contributes to your physical wellbeing, reducing blood pressure, heart rate, muscle tension, and the production of stress hormones. Take the opportunity to bundle up and go for a quick walk outdoors!
