How To Host A Family Movie Night

The cold temperatures and the snowy weather makes hosting a movie night a fun family activity. With lots of movie options available on major streaming services, like Netflix or Disney+, planning a family movie night has never been easier. Here are some ways to make your movie night an unforgettable one.

Create A Theme
Whether you are a Disney fan or love the Harry Potter series, you can create an entire theme with the movie line-up you choose. You can create snacks in honor of the film, speak in character and play movie trivia. (Image courtesy of Disney+)

Have A Line Up
Once your theme is chosen, choose movies that fit the theme. Some of our favorites include:

- Disney Theme: Classic Disney films like Aladdin, The Lion King, Hercules and The Little Mermaid.
- Books Made Into Movies: Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, Matilda, The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe and Where the Wild Things Are.
- Christmas In July (or choose the month you are in): Frosty The Snowman, Year Without A Santa Clause, Rudolph and Frosty’s Christmas in July, Santa Clause Is Coming To Town.

Snack Attack
Having yummy snacks is a must during a movie night, it makes the experience much more enjoyable. Whether you want to try some themed snacks, like Ariel’s Under The Sea Snack Mix, Aladdin’s Magic Carpets or Mickey Mouse Pretzel Bites, or movie theatre classics like buttery popcorn, nachos and candy; an array of treats is a guaranteed way to make your family movie night even better. Have A Dress Code
A dress code? Yes! Have the family get into the spirit and make a fun dress code. You can dress up like the movie characters, all wear the same color or make it a rule that pyjamas are a must to attend movie night. This is a fun way to get everyone in the family movie night spirit.
